Breaking the Cycle

Real life zaps you....it can make you feel insignificant - or is that you yourself that does that?  There is always a rat race, a competition to be more than what you are, but what is wrong with who you are?  It's all public perception when in fact you should feel good about you - who you are and how you are.  You are living for you, not others. Right?

Part of that perception creates our decisions in life.  Do you enjoy your career or are you working those horrific hours in a horrible work environment just to make money to keep up with someone else?  The reason for our career path adds to the perception of our life, how you see yourself. This flawed perception adds to the reason for the day to day cycle, but the vicious cycle of day to day blah can be broken.  There is not a need to continue down the same path.  Step out of that cycle - do something different.  Live for you!  Reality is reality and you cannot always do things to change it, but you can change your perception of your life in general.  It's your life, own it. Don't let it be branded by what others think it should be. You can change your career and choose based on something you love instead of how much the income is.  If you have dreams, go for them.  Don't sit around wishing you could do this or do that.  A dream is but a dream until you do something different.  You have to work hard to reach your goals.

I have listened to my son go on and on about what he wants to do with the rest of his life.  His career choice is unfortunately based on how much money he will make.  With the world so focused on material things, our kids have no hope for a bright future doing something they love.  He loves baseball and would like to make a career out of it but if you come from a small town, you have to be flawless - perfect to obtain notice, so his next choice is to choose a career to make him happy....or make him millions so he can end up like celebrities spotlighted on television with million dollar houses, cars, etc.  The trouble with this is they are spending so much time out on the road promoting themselves that you wonder how much time they enjoy what they obtained - is their life that great?  What is really important in life?

A happy life for me does not revolve around money, but revolves around my faith and my family.  As long as I can pay my bills, provide for my family and occasionally travel, I am happy.  I do have dreams of my own, as well.  I have a dream of becoming a published writer.  I've been writing for nearly 4 years now, working on a book series.  I don't want to be published to be a millionaire, but to allow others to see inside me - to get a deeper understanding of who I am.  I want to share my imagination so that others can have a break from their reality and develop a love of books.

If I don't step out there, expose my talent and my writing, take a chance and send it out into the world, I am the only one who can enjoy my book, who can relate to the characters, who can get lost in a world of magic with a fairy tale ending.  Every girl wants a fairy tale ending.  Hollywood has that in movies and authors in books because they know that everyone wants the perfect life - the perfect love.  The only problem with that is that we forget that it is fiction.  Life isn't perfect.  There are ups and downs, but it's how we make the most of it.  How we face our troubles and overcome them.  Everything we face in life makes us who we are.  We either learn from our mistakes or continue to make them.  The only way to break the cycle to overcome the trouble with reality is to understand that in order to change we must change our perception.  Only then will life change because then we can fully enjoy what we have been provided instead of wishing we had more.
